Our Pre -school Program
Explore & Develop PENRITH offers uniquely designed preschool program that is implemented for all children between 4 to 6 years. Our wombat room has just opened and we are excited to have a full time Preschool room operating.
Our preschool is operated by qualified teachers who aim to provide experiences and programs that will help children develop those essential 'school' skills. Our Preschool program focuses on preparing children for their transition to school by addressing the following competencies;
- Social and emotional readiness
- Conflict resolution and Social negotiation skills
- Self-help skills and independence
- Academic skills (These include skills such as early writing, comprehension and understanding of basic numeracy concepts)
We offer a School Readiness information session in August for parents and provide feedback to parents on their child's development and progress toward school throughout the year.
Our parent information sessions cover areas such as “School Readiness Skills”, what to look for in choosing your child’s school and activities that parents can do with their child to encourage school preparation. In addition, these sessions are presented to parents by a Primary school teacher, in the local area, who has had many years teaching the Stage 1 level; we value the importance of having a school teacher on board to assist in answering all the questions you may have in regards to your child’s first year at school
Possum Room – 3-4 Transition to Preschool Room
At Explore & Develop Penrith we have created a ‘transition to preschool’ room which prepares our possums for their next adventure to the Preschool wombat room . Our qualified teachers carefully prepare programs which exposes the children to phonics, sounds ,number identification and cognitive and learning skills . The program includes both free play and structured learning times to prepare children for their early school years.
In relation to School Readiness our objective is to provide a program that encourages children to become active learners through a play-based program that encourages thinking, investigating, exploring and problem solving in a social environment.
